Our client is seeking Care assistant for WND in Beechlea Children Home

Full time hours - 37.5 hrs p/w for an initial 2 month duration.

The Care Assistant will provide children and young people “looked after” with appropriately planned care, support, and guidance and to provide a positive role model. To act in a professional, proactive capacity in order to provide a positive living experience for the children and young people resident in the home utilising the framework of the Model of Attachment Practice.

5 GCSE’s Grade C or above including English and Maths and a minimum 6 months experience of working with children / young people age 10 – 18 years in a formal setting.

OR

Relevant Child Care / Social Care qualification e.g. NVQ Level 3 or equivalent and a minimum 6 months experience of working with children/ young people age 10 – 18 years in a formal setting.

OR

A higher qualification i.e. Degree in Social Work, Teaching, Youth Work

OR

A minimum 3 years’ experience of working with children/ young people age 10 – 18 years in a formal setting.

Be registered or be eligible for registration with the Northern Ireland Social Care Council

Ability to work as part of a Team.

Ability to relate appropriately with young people.

Understand the concept of confidentially.

Ability to keep accurate records.

Ability to deal with children / young people who present with challenging behaviour.

An understanding of values and principles that underpin a quality service for Looked after Children and the role of Waking Night Staff in meeting these.

Knowledge of Health and Safety at work, Fire and First Aid.
